The Sports
The following events will be available:
- Dragon Boating
- Football 11-a-side and 6-a-side
- Netball
- Rounders
- Run 5/10k
- Team Rowathlon - Swim/Row/Run
We will also be holding the popular Run Relay and Tug of War events open to all Games participants.
Unfortunately cycling cannot be permitted this year as the University rules have changed.
Team Details
With the emphasis on Team Sports, we have a variety of sporting events to choose from this year. The old favourites such as Dragon Boating and Football are joined by a Team Rowathlon.
Please note the following:
- Places are limited for every sport so it is on a first come, first served basis
- All teams must be registered by the Team Captain. Individual team members are not able to register themselves this year, except in the running events. We have made the form as streamlined as possible to facilitate this process
- Team events have minimum and maximum team member criteria. You must satisfy at least the minimum number for your registration to be successful
Dragon Boating
Dragon Boats are permitted a minimum of 13 and maximum of 15 team members.
Football 11-a-side
11-a-side football squads must be all male and are permitted a minimum of 13 and maximum of 15 team members.
Football 6-a-side
6-a-side football squads must be all male and are permitted a minimum of 8 and
maximum of 10 team members.
Netball
Netball squads must be all female and are permitted a minimum of 9 and maximum of 11 team members.
Rounders
Rounders teams are permitted a minimum of 11 and maximum of 13 team members.
Run 5k / Run 10k
As in previous years there are a number of categories in the running events, including a beginners event.
Rowathlon Teams
Rowathlon teams must have 3 members. You may choose all male, all female or a mixed team. Please pick the relevant event. Each team member will complete each of the three
disciplines: Swim 200k / Fixed-Row 1k / Run 5k.
Rules
All rules will be posted on the website at the beginning of August. Team captains and
solo athletes are responsible for reading these prior to the Games.
Important: Team captains should bring mobile phone numbers for each team member in case of emergency.
Please note that the following footwear will be accepted for 11-a-side football only:
- Moulds
- Blades
- Football studs (NOT rugby studs)
However, for 6-a-side football, NO moulds, blades or studs will be permitted.
